The “regulars” know all this but it makes a very worthwhile point that the EGT measured is actually a very rough average, derived by averaging the temperature of a bit of hot gas popping out through the exhaust valve once in a while, against no gas flow most of the time.
That’s why the absolute EGT value has almost no meaning.

It never occurred to me to worry about the absolute temp. of the EGT display on the G1000 – but now I’m equipped with arguments if somebody should question me why I don’t.
