Diamond DA50

No injuries? The report says otherwise…

Switzerland

It’s just me, however I’d not spend that kind of money without getting either 2 engines or 1 engine and a chute in return.

A DA50 with chute, that would be something Cirrus would take notice of very carefully.

It is what it is. And, according to rumors, the 50 orderbook is full.

The aircraft, climbing, finally came into contact with the highest part of the glacier, crossed the ridge of the glacier at low speed and dropped into a dip some 20 m deep to the south of the glacier, where it collided with a scree. The passenger and pilot were seriously injured.

Clipped the ridge. Parachute would not have made a difference.

It would if it was pulled before the aircraft hit the ridge.

Once you pull a chute, you have no control. I would not pull it above that sort of terrain unless I was clearly above a reasonable landing site. OTOH, he may have been in IMC… but still, there are better ways… anyway, done all this before

I have not seen a DA50 anywhere outside the EDNY exhibition halls.

I seem them everyday flying around LOAN and LOWG on OE-V__ registrations (test/acceptance flights). Check on FR24.

Make a note of some of the regs and after a few weeks google them.

That will pretty well tell you where they are going… works for any plane, unless it disappears somewhere into the 3rd World, or flies only between isolated farm strips

One DA50 was on the ramp at France Air expo in Lyon LFLY early June. Probably a factory aircraft.
First time a DA50 lands in France according to aviation press.

Doesn’t work, the OE-V__ regs are reused ;)

None are registered in the UK, unlike 12xDA-62 and 69xDA-42…
