Certified? The fastest still is the Mooney Acclaim if I recall correctly with some 242 kts top speed (probably reached once during flight test). Friend of mine did indeed own one (ultra too) and flew it across the NATL, he was raving about the speed and the cockpit, not so much about payload. And ok, normally I would not sit in mine either with a jacket of the size too…
Glasair III: 230ktas at FL160 on 15gph

Its uncertifed! Lancair IV-P is even faster.
Those aircraft have lot of power 310hp-350hp is lot, they should fly at 350KTAS if you take an Encore, you are hitting 210kts on FL210 with 210hp on 210k$, not bad !
I see people posting pictures of these everyday clocking 180kts-200kts at FL200-FL250 on 12GPH-14GPH, some of the sweetest machines out there…
G_JBRD seems a very cheap aircraft for the capability till you check the W&B figures…
At full fuel, there is no weight left for the pilot, just for a small suitcase!
The turbocharged Velocity XL canard is advertised at 270KTAS
A friend is building one with a centrifugal turbojet, which is expected to reach around M0.6

not sure it will fit in the SEP category, as in the title of this thread
I know but the XL is a bona fide SEP
This experimental jet will be doing around 320 KTAS at FL200 if my Mach conversion is about right

No, it is experimental! :)
