Another SAAB 37 Viggen in the air

Now there is a second SAAB 37 Viggen flying. This one is the trainer version.

ESKC (Uppsala/Sundbro), Sweden

According to wiki they had one flying in 2013 – was that the first of the two?

Yes. There is currently only one pilot rated for the aircraft. Having an airworthy trainer means that it is easier to train more pilots.

Grew up with Viggens buzzing the skies in Sweden. Although I’ve not lived home for almost 20 years by now, and don’t consider myself very nationalistic – nothing makes me feel more proud of being Swedish than the sight of a Viggen! Plane was unique and decades ahead of its time when it was built.

Glad one is back in the sky!
