Are traditional piston twins more likely to get less maintenance than singles?

FWIW I got quoted more for hangar space locally than my friends pay for one bedroom dwellings in the city, so it seems that is the universal “going rate” ;-)
Hangar space is half as expensive if one is willing to drive out twice as far/long.

Hangars for twins are in many places double the price of hangars for singles, and hangars for turbine twins are often double the price of hangars for piston twins. A hangar like mine is thereby 1/4 the monthly rental price of a hangar for a turbine twin (or small apartment). I think where this situation applies it would contribute greatly to a single engine planes being better maintained, if owned by people operating within a reasonable budget.
