AVGAS in very remote locations

Inspired by @AeroPlus pictures of Chinguetti, how do people organise AVGAS in the far-off parts of the world? especially ones where you don’t want to give the local Al-Qaeda franchise months to plan for your arrival…

This route has avgas every few hundred miles, and (flying-wise at least) would be relatively easy form the UK, even in the lowly TB10:

Well … as for Chinguetti in Mauritania we got the fuel from Nouakchott, which is all the way at the coast and had the AVGAS barrel transported to the airport ATAR. We flew into ATAR (by special arrangement as this is not a normal port of entry). Here some pictures of the AVGAS barrel arriving at our aircraft.

I have loads of information and pictures on how to get AVGAS or fuel in remote locations, but have to go to make my appointment :-) It is after all Monday morning. Maybe later.

Here a blogpost I wrote during my Africa trip about having trouble getting AVGAS: http://acrossafricachallenge.com/africa-and-avgas/

Fly safely
Various UK. Operate throughout Europe and Middle East, United Kingdom

Practically everybody who does this without good local connections uses overflight agents for everything outside Europe, with a few exceptions. The biggest challenge (according to reports) can be making sure the fuel is not stolen by the time you arrive.

I have five listed on my main aviation page (search for “agents”)

Some are better than others, but reports on which ones are good vary a lot… A good friend of mine who flies bizjets all over the world, plus a lot of ferrying, speaks well of overflight.co.uk.
