Bordeaux International Fly-in : 1 to 3 September 2017 Saucats LFCS

I’m pleased to announce that the airfield has given approval for me to organise the third annual Bordeaux International Fly-In at Saucats airfield (LFCS).

Surrounded by vineyards in the heart of the prestigious Pessac-Léognan wine appellation, Saucats is ideally located for visiting châteaux and also for the center of Bordeaux, located about half an hour’s drive away.

As in previous years, I will be organising the following :

- A minibus for group transport

- For those who prefer to have their own vehicle, rental cars which can be left at the airfield on departure

- A wine tasting

- A visit to the center of Bordeaux

- A fly-out to a local airfield restaurant

- A special pilots’ banquet on the last night

About the airfield
800m hard runway
No landing or parking fees
Avgas available (currently 1.80 eur per litre)

Accommodation
The IBIS Budget / Style hotels in Villenave d’Ornon have worked well in previous years.

Le Chalet Lyrique in Gradignan is also nice and about the same distance away.

I hope to see many of you down here again this year, both old faces and new!

For the moment, could you just give a vague indication as to whether you would be interested in coming.

I will be having a “whip round” to cover the costs of the minibus etc. The amount will be decided when I know the final costs.

Jim,
We will be interested in coming, thanks for putting it together.

Is it possible to organise Immigration there?

Hi Peter,

Probably not, but there is no harm in asking. I’ll speak to the Border Police next time I go to Mérignac.

Sounds really great. I’m in.

As a newbie to all this, where’s the best place to get Jet A nearby?

And, on the other end of the spectrum, what about MoGas availability?

Jet A1 : Available on the airfield but reserved for one club (of which I am a member). I’ll ask.

Mogas : bring your own jericans and you can fill them at a local service station.

Thanks, I can do that from any airfield any time.
Sounds like MoGas users are not the prime audience.

Sounds like MoGas users are not the prime audience.

The airfield has a number of based microlights, including 3 Belgian ones (VL3), but sadly does not have a dedicated Mogas pump.

I am happy to go and fill up cans of Mogas if people let me know in advance. Otherwise I can drive you 5 minutes down the road to fill your cans.

Ah, that’s suddenly a quite different tone.
Thanks again, I will certainly keep in tune!
