Great news. But – does that mean SVFR above FL80 will no longer be possible?

From the linked presentation

SVFR only in CI CTR, NOT permitted in CTAs or TMA.

and

Those portions of the current Channel Islands CTR, CTA-1 and CTA2 which lie above FL80 will become the Channel Islands Terminal Control Area (TMA), Class A controlled airspace, with base level FL80 and upper limit FL195

So it looks like the answer is NO, there is no SVFR above FL80

I don’t think VFR or SVFR is possible in Class A, unless it touches the ground (and I recall reading that even then it is a UK-only deviation from ICAO).

Once the new SERA regs come in within the UK, (December) there will be no VFR or SVFR in any class A airspace including CTRs. Hence the reclassification of CI and LHR to class D.

OK; that now makes sense.

The key Q is whether the policies of the ATC units (on transits etc) will change…
