This was posted in some fb group:

“This is why the official figures are so low. All the sick or the suspected go on 2 queues for testing. Queue A private hospital Testing cost 3142 RMB, which is more than the monthly salary of a nurse but you get the results on the same day. Queue B Govt hospital Testing cost around 150 RMB and the waiting list is very very long. If you are lucky to get tested, you get the results up to 9 days later. If you die before the results come back you are not a confirmed case. Most ppl die at home because they can’t get a bed in an NHS hospital, or can’t get tested, or can’t wait 9 days for the results. I believe the real figures are n times higher.”

As you’ve seen on the news, it arrived to Italy, claiming first victim.

I work at a major German university hospital and nobody among the staff is seriously worried about this virus. It will not be any different to us than the flu if and when it finally arrives here…

Are there any predictions/researches it will become seasonal like flu or more kind of one-event like SARS?

For the time being, it differs in one very obvious respect: we are unable to protect “at risk” individuals or populations by vaccination.

Covid-19 may well kill only one or two or ten percent of infected individuals in the rich parts of Europe and if we allow it to become endemic it may help to control other (less valuable) populations in much the same way as myxomatosis, but in the shadow of recent European history, some of us are unashamedly squeamish about that attitude.
