Bizarre: I think that we just crossed a Predator UAV who flew a few thousand feet below us. Us was an AirAsia A330 on approach to Incheon over South-Korea as passenger. Just saw a weird looking straight wing white proppusher from my window seat. I couldnt think of anything else but a Predator. Americans I guess…
North of L.A. is an area where a lot of theses things – both civilian and military – are tested. Not long ago while transiting this area I heard this – paraphrased – exchange on the radio, the a/c were both going into Gen Fox airport:
ATC:
- UAV xyz, cleared to land, wind xx at yy’
- Cirrus 1234, you are number two, following the UAV on final
Cirrus:
- number two behind the UAV – pause – what ?
You could hear the disbelief in the Cirrus pilot’s voice…
