Ostend has literally everything: H24, beach, hotels, food, bus, taxi, train and nice two cities nearby and the good news is Southend mimics some of that !
Lille was a definitely one GA gate to Paris or UK but now it went to the rats (altough, it never had train station and decent ground connections: historically French rail company SNCF refused to connect to airports with trains for about 60 years, they had to do it recently for 3 or 4 airports hubs under strong judiciary action and lot of market pressure)

It’s a proper GA IFR airport innit? why there are not that many like this
This, Kotritjk and Rotterdam are brilliant. It’s a shame Lille has recently gone downhill with the GA fees being hiked, as that was very good service. Southend is now becoming up there for GA, what with its fees for approaches now being less prohibitive.

Very quick visit and nice and easy. Used the lounge upstairs for 30 minutes before returning back. Security were paranoid on arrival, but once we’d been run on the system they didn’t return.
Not necessary at Ostend just the Gendec
I think one GENDEC is ok for Ostend & Kortjik, especially Kortjik, the officers are very friendly and can’t be more helpful
However at Antwerp, they are quoting 200€/pob this year for missing that 2nd GENDEC
Anyway, it does not hurt to do full diligence and cover your back, it’s easy to get a***d on this
The issue with one, or two, is down to the Belgian gendec booking website. It is referenced in some recent trip reports, and here. The main issue is that there are two tickboxes which can be ticked concurrently, but if you do that, it “blows up”. The police agreed this problem is there.

Kortrijk, however do require both Police an Customs with 8 hours notice for the police
This is what they sent earlier this year ……..
Before coming to EBKT, our customs wants to be notified 8 hours in advance either by a GenDec
The GenDec or form needs to be sent to [email protected] .
Some details can be found on our airports database for EBOS.
My understanding, you need to send two separate Belgian GENDEC to both Police and Customs, at the airport you need to see both (Ostend and Kortrijk are very relaxed about this though as it seems they speak to each other but in other airports they have turf war)
Looking to fly to EBOS on Friday. Presume just the formalities of FPL and CUSTOMS to the Belgian GENDEC and UK GAR?
Are there briefing room facilities available?
