I need 100LL, but price-wise, I really managed to optimize my refuels so far this year, flying out of EDFE (where the price is 2.90€):
January: Strasbourg-Entzheim (LFST), 2.41€, which was an intended stop and where the relatively good fuel price came as a sursprise
February: Borkenberge (EDLB), 2.38€. I didn‘t really have a destination that day, so flew where the fuel is cheap.
March: Hohenems (LOIH), 2.40€. The airfield was on my way back to EDFE coming from Italy.
March: Rendsburg (EDXR), 2.15€. The airfield was on my way back fron Büsum to Lübeck and offers the cheapest 100LL in central Europe.

I am aware that in the overall scheme, these fuel price savings don‘t make much of a difference, but it just feels better doing this than wasting money on expensive fuel.
What about you?

What about you?I need Mogas (usually Total Ultimate 102) and I’ve quickly stopped caring. I just ignore it as the price of admission to the hobby, especially when flying out, the only consideration is weight and distance.
Needing about 4000L p.a., I do care as well, and I also do not see justification for more than maybe 10-20cts per Liter within one jurisdiction.
I could add Hof EDQM and Kulmbach EDQK with 2.50 and 2.49, respectively.
And, of course, Portoroz with their 2.37.
2 tanks with a total of 326L allow e realistic fjel management, since LDG & T/O cost you, too. Not worth if you just top up a bit.
(On my return from Weimar, I will stop in Hof today and take some 250 L ;-) )
If you are going to Sweden and can use unleaded fuel, make a stop at Sundbro (ESKC). Hjelmco 91/96UL is currently € 2.10/litre for visitors (SEK 23).

Often planned for a stop there but never did it really make sense. The price difference is huge, it’s still 2.7X€ at my homebase. I heard that the AVGAS base price should have dropped significantly, but few airfields pass it over because…well, we all pay “whatever it takes” (to quote future German government).
Same is true for Guernsey, where I often wanted to make a stopover but never did it come to happen. On top I still haven’t really come to understand how the tax return works.
@boscomantico, maybe u ought to start different threads with different fuel options… or mention whatever fuel is meant in the thread title.
More and more people don’t rely on Avgas no more…
As u can see below, the price of my, and my engine’s favorite type of fuel is vastly different than what most fuel guzzlers require.

Dan, as I clearly said, I am interested in all fuel types, and people’s current refuelling habits and experiences.
UdoR, at the Channel Islands there is no “tax return“ to be made. £1.09 at the moment. See here.
ch.ess I think I met a TB20 buddy of yours from your airfield at EDXR yesterday…
What about all the other owners here? Everybody flying electric?
On last two trips I paid expensive Jet A1:
- EDJA €2.60
- LFLP €2.70
I don’t know where the base price for this comes from but it’s incomparable to what I pay elsewhere.

Which is within 7% of what I’m paying for 100LL locally in the US, thereby demonstrating nicely that what you’re buying elsewhere in Europe for 2x as much is tax, not the actual fuel, transport, low sales volume etc. So I would expect more generally for price differences to be driven by tax rates.

I’m not so sure. My club buys 100LL in bulk and at our last refill half a year ago (we mostly use unleaded AVGAS) the price without taxes was € 1.84/litre.
