The engines close to the centreline goes both ways – it means the designer will give you a tiny rudder, meaning you will still end up needing all of it.
That’s certainly right, but in case of the Citation in the video and every other jet with tail mounted engines that have thrust reversers, you really only need full rudder with a reverser deployment at V1. A “simple engine failure”, possibly with a slow spool-down, can be handled almost without rudder. Even the autopilot which has no control over the rudder other than through the completely independent yaw damper (which does not have the authority or force to perform full deflections) is perfecly able to cope with an engine failure using ailerons alone.
I have to agree with “what next”. This stuff is only for the sim… It isn’t very impressive.
