Can one of the pros or more experienced IFR pilots here tell me why the RWY 05 Z ILS of Split, LDSP, have no “IAF” marked on the (Jeppesen) Chart? I’d say that the SPL VOR is the IAF … but why doesn’t it say so?
I think this piece is fairly recent
Yes, that’s the one i have too. So the VOR is the IAF …what else. But it doesn’t say so, right?
Maybe because there are several IAFs? The VOR SPL and the three points on radial 206 which are the end points of various arrival routes.
But on other charts all the IAFs are marked as “IAF” then … well at least the ones i know.
Doesn’t really matter, but it surprised me …
Take a look at the STARs, where they end you find the respective IAF. There are lots of them for LDSP.
Indeed!
I hope they just give me a vector .., i hate those STARS :-)
i hate those STARS
Well, I just select the right one on my GNS430W and watch the terrain page on my GPSMAP695 to make sure it does the right thing. Then I wait for the PAPIs to appear. Job done
[ quote fixed – must not have a space before the bq. :) ]
Yeah, and i tried to fly them by hand … and don’t ask what they looked like :-)
Since I have NEVER had to fly one in IMC … will the non-WAAS fly the STAR with the DFC90? Have not even tried yet!
i hate those STARS :-)
Someone had a lot of fun designing both the STARs and the ILS Z.
