Nose running - flying

No, this was just after entering the EDDL CTR – which is Class D – for a crossing.

Gosh, they don’t ask for much then

I would read back an abbreviated version: “east of the A5, November, follow other aircraft”.

Well, this A5 November Cessna 172 story was an example brought up by boscomantico.

The actual situation was that the clearance to enter the CTR was already history at this point and the controller came round with the additional “instruction” to “continue and report field in sight”.

That’s if one is visual with the other aircraft, which 90% of the time one is not

In which case it should be something like “east of A5, proceed to November, Negative contact”.
