Tough UK flying weather today

Went down to Cornwall yesterday back today. Lots of ice and v. gusty winds.

LFMD beckons tomorrow! Assuming there isn't so much snow that I can't leave.

I thought it was March - what is going on with this weather?

Yes, terrible. Yesterday was mostly fog and low cloud base with rain forecast, and today was low cloud base with snow forecast. Clouds all around were generally about 500 ft AAL, which for a SEP with no anti-icing and at an airfield with no approach, was a no-go. The clouds did rise later on on both days, but I didnt know what the cloud tops, and there was every chance of picking up ice, so it would not have been worth even having a look to see if we could get above. Here's hoping for better weather next weekend :-)

I was in and out of cloud tops at FL200 so climbing through was not simple without icing equip.

Aircraft fitted with "icing equip"ment are quite rare these days :)
