What do you find most challenging in IFR flying?

Considering IFR currency, training and experience what do you find most challenging about IFR flying? Is it planning, weather, organization, ATC, approach?

I dont like bad weather.

Convective weather (the stress of the decisions you have to make) and gusty surface winds (the unpredictability).

Weather-based decision making.

I would say ice and convectivity. Surface winds? Not at all. My aircraft (won’t say which type..;-)) handles huge amounts of crosswind.

Mainz (EDFZ) & Egelsbach (EDFE), Germany

Weather, for sure. Better now that I bought that ADL120 satellite weather receiver, but I don’t like to fly into ice and buildups … I find the rest pretty simple.

Weather, getting VMC on top, getting lost at complicated airports where the signs are bad.

Ice (I hate ice)
Like Peter, taxying at complex airports

Actually I also agree with taxying. Brussels in particular is a nightmare.

As one who is training for the IR, I have to mention NDB holds. The rest I find either simple or good to train, but I’m seriously considering sending CAA an invoice to cover the many hours of NDB holds.
