PA46 hits powerline during approach

On Wednesday a PA46 crashed into a powerline during approach for landing in Augsburg near Munich. The 57yo pilot, sole person aboard, survived the accident and is no longer in a life-threatening situation.

I hope the pilot gets well soon.

At the time, I was in the shop that maintained the aircraft. They were quite shocked but very relieved when they learned that the pilot survived and it was not due to a technical malfunction.

Good to read that the pilot survived.

Awkward that the hedge behind the aircaft is undamaged.

Once got a false G/S on the ILS into Augsburg - basically vectored onto the LOC miles away - no warning flag, but fortunately in VMC. Approach and DME/slope check would/should have caught it, but good advertisement for fitting GPWS.

EDMA is the airport where I did my complete IFR training ... I never had an unreliable GS or ILS. Interesting ...
