ANOTHER ONE:
New STC announced by Socata for the RR mini PT6 for the TB20. Upgrade expected to cost less than a new piston engine.
A diesel engine has been announced with the IO540 overall dimensions, prop flange position and mounting points. Turbonormalised to 250HP. 10 engines were bench tested at 85% of max power, for 2000hrs, with zero failures, and all were found to be within overhaul limits at the end.
Homebuilts can fly all over Europe without landing or overflight permits being required, VFR or IFR. N-reg homebuilts are accepted onto Euro-reg directly and can be based anywhere without time limits.
A Japanese company secretly developed a battery made from cheap and abundant raw materials which can safely store an equal amount of energy as the same mass of hydrocarbon fuel. Mass production and worldwide deliveries will start in the second half of this year.
And nuclear fusion is finally here!
Peter gets awarded by Daher for the promotion of GA in general, and of the TB line of aircraft in particular by getting a TBM 900 for free.
And he then makes the mistake of putting it in a syndicate…

Peter finally buys an iPad. But insists on running iOS4 on it to reduce heat generation and maximise battery life. While he achieves a cool iPad and battery life which nearly exceeds the range of his TB20, it does limit him to only being able to run a single aviation app – the Sporty’s E6B calculator. Via a terminal interface on the iPad which handlily connects to his Symbian phone via a lightning to RS232 adapter he made, he is able to access the textual descriptions of the missed approach on Jeppesen approach plates. Sadly these do not include the minima (or indeed the approach itself) so he is still required to print everything out.
