I often come across handlers requesting a GENDEC for intra Schengen flights. In the past, I used RocketRoute to automatically generate GENDECs based on the flight plan data and a database of crew/pax. This is absent in ForeFlight. Do you know of any other tool to generate these with minimum number of clicks?
I had the same issue and a while ago asked the Gendec.eu team if they could expand their service to a simple GenDecGenerator but they declined.
I then explained the issue to a pilot friend who is a sw dev and he created something. I will post it here.
Another great solution is Janni from DispatchAustria He does automatic GenDex forwarding in line with obtaining/organizing PPR/PN/Permits using a software (Leon Software) for a very reasonable per leg fee.
I think Foreflight does it if you get the dispatch plan.
Just curious what is a standard GenDec for intra shenghen? just a pdf form?
The problem is there no standard gendec.
Just check the threads about the various gendecs here. One for Belgium, one for Netherlands, Greece is yet something else. Suire it can be done but somebody either needs to love the job, or has to be paid to do it.

Yes.

The standard GENDEC as defined by the ICAO is here
I use this one because it integrates the passenger manifest, which is a separate document in the ICAO annex.
Any web utility would be problematic because of the need to store personal data on the server side. So, maybe an iPhone app? If it could scan IDs and passports, store locally and accept an FPL string from Foreflight to fill the header, it might be useful. In the age of vibe coding, this is not very hard.

yes not very hard. just got it done in the last few evening, works quite well, scans passports with the camera or from a photo, import your existing GAR passenger list, all kind of short cut to reuse flights, invert route, reuse passengers groups etc and knows a list of predefined forms for some French airport, gendec above and also generate the excel to upload to the GAR government website… All sensitive data synchronized between devices and encrypted in iCloud, so if you trust Apple your data is safe…. Apple only though.
as you said not very hard in the age of vibe coding.
I used It to generate forms for next weekend flight from UK to Deauville… I’ll tidy it up a bit and I’ll publish for other people to test. meanwhile https://github.com/roznet/flyfun-forms
and it includes a claude skill to /add-form more templates…
Beat me to it 🫣😊
Was too embarrassed to publish it cause I couldn’t get the passport MRZ OCR to work reliably. Which library did you use for that?

I just used Apple vision framework. Though I only tested it on the few passport I have at home from the family seemed to work fine.
Anyway I pushed a version to the AppStore, usually first time will have a couple of back and forth with Apple, but then we can get a few people to test it and iterate, but I started to use it for my own flight and worked pretty well!
Have you just used MacOS to set this up, or also tested on ipadOS? (I‘m still running an old Intel imac so will need do use it on the ipad).

What I set up works in macOS, iOS and iPadOS and all the flights/passengers etc sync automatically between devices.
Because of sensitivities of the data, its using the Apple iCloud ecosystem for encryption and syncing so it only works on Apple ecosystem And iOS 17+/macos 14+, that was the cheap way to achieve security
When it’s ready for testing (pending Apple review) I will post back with a link
