German Luftwaffe in action

Today the Luftwaffe closed down highway A9 to bring a damaged Eurofighter to the factory in Manching. Apart from the remaining Eurofighters that are out of service due to numerous technical problems, this one had a mid-air collision with a Learjet that it was chasing for training purposes. The Learjet crashed and both pilots died. The picture is quite representative of the state of the German armed forces…

At the time of the accident, which was the first mid-air collision in German airspace in ten years,9 the Learjet was simulating a civil airliner that had lost radio contact with Air Traffic Control. The Eurofighter Typhoons were simulating a military response to such a scenario.3[BFU 5]

Tragic accident but it’s good they practice so the Learjet was not a 737
