The 30% don’t really prevent the 70% from being sensible,

It can be viewed that the 30% do not really care if the 70% ’’’infect’’’ dem

A combination of (a) young and (b) probably already had it.

However, “immediately” is a bit silly, because they are unlikely to be offered it. It’s a bit like me saying I would give a national lottery 1st prize win to the top 10 EuroGA posters

The UK is expecting a 3rd wave, due to xmas socialising. The govt has apparently decided that trying to do much about xmas is too high a political price to pay, regardless of the deaths in mid-January. Currently 600/day although I have not seen any recent excess mortality numbers or even any breakdown; they would be interesting since this is also usually a bad time for death from other respiratory diseases, among the old.

Older people are consistently showing as a lot more likely to take it.

Probably because (a) they are more at risk and (b) have less exposure to the social media traffic driving the anti vaccination moods.

it is by no means a majority who does not want the measures, but a vocal minority of at best 30% of the general population depending on how the questions are set.

That is a weak excuse and a great example of survey bias.

The good thing about corona measures: Almost all of them you can do by yourself! Except for schools and some work related measures (and btw. even in Switzerland I don’t know too many employers who don’t accept people working from home these days if they want to and the job is suitable for that), there is nothing at all that prevents you from adopting an adequate behavior completely w/o any government telling you what to do.

To check what Swiss people think about Corona restrictions, one doesn’t need to ask but just got to Paradeplatz or Barfüsserplatz. It is completely detached from reality that only “at best 30% of the general population” want social distancing, not visiting restaurants and staying at home. These days from looking at these places you clearly see, that the vast majority of population doesn’t care!

The narrative you want to tell us “They just do it, because it is not forbidden but they would happily follow if it would be” is at best childish.

Yes, and a bit more responsible, generally. Ask anyone employing a significant number of people. There is a pretty well monotonic curve of age versus how likely the person is to turn up at work on a Monday morning

You can indeed, but much less so if you have kids living with you, or can’t work from home and work in a busy office.

Those with no kids, a good relationship, adequate liquidity, home food delivery options, and living/working in a low population density area, can avoid this thing indefinitely – limited only by their mental health and loss of skiing currency

But you could equally rephrase that as “almost two out of every three doctors in a Medscape poll stated that they would immediately take a covid vaccine.”

I find that reassuring

here

Early November – 17%; for comparison – peak was + 117% (or 217% of normal deaths, with three weeks in a row of 2x normal death rate).

BTW – perhaps the best international comparison (with semi-log scales and calibration per million people) is done by the FT

What a headline – so let’s look at the results!

Actually yes: 4 out of 10 who responded the poll said they would not immediately take a Covid vaccine. What an impressive 40%.

But wait a minute. Only 308 physicians responded – that is about 123 physicians that answered with “no” – or a much less impressive 0.05% of the 200k physicians in the UK. And only 30% of those (here ) would not take it immediately due to safety concerns – the majority for “I’d rather wait” or “other” reasons – safe to assume that at least a few of them because they either already had the infection or believe others need the vaccine more urgently.

One thing, however, is absolutely clear “0.02% of UK physicians say they would not take the vaccine immediately when it comes available” neither makes a good clickbait headline nor a good Internet forum post…

Yes because it does not fit your narrative. It is impossible to have a reasoned debate with the sheeple mentra of ‘’we are right, you are all wrong’’ brigade. It may come as a shock to you but the world does have individuals that question, people that go against the grain, people that actually stand and have a different view and not spend their lives swimming with the populist tide. It’s what makes us human.

That is what the politico agenda wishes. And by God there are some that have gone hook, line and sinker. As I stated before it will end up 50/50.
