Biggest civilian drone, and useful too.

A Spanish company has developed this. Mainly for firefighting. Objective is saving pilot’s lives, money and increasing effectiveness (night ops possible). Other missions include crop spraying, surveillance and humanitarian aid (food dropping)

Autonomous operations with great accuracy (they mention ‘differential GPS’ that provides 20 cm accuracy? And Radar Altimeter). Supposedly this enables autoland on glassy lake surfaces which would be difficult from a remote control station.

Firefighters can send a string of GPS coordinates for the device to drop the water on.

Payload 1.850 kg, incl fuel. Wing span 14 m, length 11.5 m. Kind of engines?

Peter, worthwhile to make a separate section on drones on the forum? Not only interesting tech-wise but also the operational interaction aspects with manned GA?

Good to see an example of technology from Spain.

This pic was taken in Iceland in July 2015, where this large drone was undergoing testing. (Not my photo – Never been there.) Is it the same one?
