Is this a right way to structure a NOTAM?

C0036/22
AD CLOSED.
SCHEDULE: 1800-2000
FROM: 02 JAN 2022 18:00 TO: 31 JAN 2022 20:00

I ask because some 3rd party briefing software has parsed it thus:

OTOH I am not sure how else it could be specified, given the NOTAM system.

The way you’ve quoted it at the start is the correct way.

There are lots of NOTAMS that cover multiple days but only certain times during the day. I don’t think they are “parsing” it but rather simply leaving out the schedule part.

NOTAM is correctly structured and written, the problem is in the parsing software.

Why not say which software it is? That would make the thread useful in the end, by alerting users that this software make such as mess with NOTAMs.

I didn’t post it because I didn’t know, but I asked so now I do know

I get my notams directly from Eurocontrol, or via our Airports database, or via its telegram bot.

That’s similar problem like having some software interpreting METAR and TAF.

Really, I don’t know why you would want interpretation of METARs and TAFs. The codes are not difficult to learn and it’s much faster to read the original code than “interpretations”. The only thing is when some very unusual weather code appears, such as (in my area) DU, VA or PE. But in that case I can accept the bother of looking it up.

There is a eurocontrol OPADD document how NOTAMs should be structured:

  • NOTAM creation according to ICAO Annex 15 and Doc 10066 PANS-AIM;
  • processing of incoming NOTAM not compliant with ICAO SARPs;
  • procedures and messages related to database coherence and completeness;
  • handling of ASHTAM and SNOWTAM;
  • specific European arrangements;
  • guidelines related to pre-flight-information Bulletins (PIB)

Dear All

Just to provide an update on this, I would like to provide some background and some updates.

The shown item was from our Route Advisories section, highlighting a NOTAM of a runway closure with guidance to the user to review the full NOTAM for information. The NOTAM is included in the full, correct format later in the briefing pack and in the NOTAM section.

We do however take on board the feedback that this could have been made clearer in the Route Advisories section and we are now rolling out an update to NOTAMs highlighted in this section. Example is shown below from the User Interface:

We thank you for your feedback regarding our service and we look forward to continuing to make improvements to our service based on customer feedback.
