Russian invasion of Ukraine

We have some special rules for this thread, in addition to the normal EuroGA Guidelines. The basic one is that EuroGA will not be a platform for pro Russian material. For that, there are many sites on the internet. No anti Western posts. Most of us live in the "West" and enjoy the democratic and material benefits. Non-complying posts will be deleted and, if the poster is a new arrival, he will be banned.

We’ll see if US will push PL to do it.

AIUI Poland will get F16s or some other US plane to replace the MIGs they give to Ukraine.

They certainly cannot say it officially….

Be careful. Turning down the heating could be considered an act of war. (Unlike spreading Polonium round London, which is part of normal friendly relations).

On latest news, russia armored vehicle are still out of fuel and they also lost air superiority, mostly due to a certain number of stinger shots… this is encouraging but EU and must still push farther. Hope they’ll close the gas robinet as soon as possible. We should have done tjat at day 1.

According to here

The Russian occupier launched a missile strike at Vinnytsia airfield from the Black Sea with the help of strategic bombers.
Source: Yuri Ignat , spokesman for the Air Force Command
Direct speech: "The attack on the Vinnytsia airfield was carried out from the south. According to updated information – from the Black Sea, strategic bombers Tu-95 MS or Tu-160.
Eight long-range missiles were launched, probably X-101s, up to 5,500 km. "
Details: A spokesman for the Armed Forces of Ukraine reminded that Vinnytsia has a joint airfield operated by both the military and civilians.
The runway of the airfield has been under reconstruction for a long time, so there were no aircraft at the airfield.

This is probably to show that they can hit Ukranian airports, hence the speculation that the Ukranian Migs might fly from Polish runways, and that would be an “interesting” proposition.

Otherwise, getting some F16s, presumably with a modern configuration… what is not to like?

All this is so totally incompetently executed that it hurts to even think. If the russians would have done it better, they could have achieved victory in a matter of days. Now we all see this ridicolous attempt of warfare, but this will only lead to one thing: more massive destruction and fatalities among citizens, only because they go to war with….this.

How exactly? How do you force soldiers and militia armed with assault rifles, RPGs, stingers and whatnot, mixed with civilians with molotow cocktails and rifles out of cities and houses in a matter of days in Europe’s second largest country with 40+ million inhabitants?

I think every despot in the world would like to know that magic recipe. One that preferably didn’t involve nuclear strikes

The Russians have already wiped out all the heavy military equipment. The Ukrainian armed forces in the correct sense of the word exist no more.

It’s awful to say, but the war is turning out to be rather fascinating, or perhaps educating is a better word. While high tech weapons, missiles and big guns do what they are supposed to do, at some point they will be rendered unusable and lost some way or another, or there is nothing of military value left to hit. Then what? What exactly are you going to do when every civilian is armed, and they simply won’t give up and the mission is to take control of them? By the looks of it, this is what we see now. Although to be honest, I don’t trust much of the “intel” coming from Ukraine right now, and much less so self proclaimed experts trying to “explain” the situation from their armchairs, for instance like that video.

How is this going to end? Surely not even Putin is able to wipe out every city in Ukraine and get away with it.

Question is – are Ukrainian pilots trained in them? I don’t think F-16s would do much good, unless they’re flown by NATO pilots.

How do you know?

The idea is that Poland gets the F16s and then in turn gives its MIGs to the Ukraine.
