It has just got slightly better
How do you define a hurricane? One on google is
a tropical cyclone with winds of 74 miles (119 kilometers) per hour or greater
Re: the lowest pressure (from wiki):
The lowest non-tornadic atmospheric pressure ever measured was 870 hPa (0.858 atm; 25.69 inHg), set on 12 October 1979, during Typhoon Tip in the western Pacific Ocean. The measurement was based on an instrumental observation made from a reconnaissance aircraft.8
Typical hurricane pressures are more ‘normal’ , although still quite low, see the table towards the bottom of this page:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2017_Atlantic_hurricane_season
The low on the chart is not a remnant hurricane (but remnants of Ophelia slammed Ireland not so long ago…).
Mighty pressure gradient there between 1038 and 957 … fancy a little bit of tailwind? :-)
A new low in this thread – 938mb:
I am heading out of Gloucester tomorrow, flying to Venice Lido. Looking forward to a 60kt plus tailwind to slingshot me across the channel.
Looks like a good plan @Buckerfan, reserve me a seat !
A great idea @Buckerfan. I am just back from three days in the Venice area.
The weather is just fantastic there currently. In fact, it is such all over central Europe! Enjoy it!
This is rarely seen
The temperatures seem odd. Big difference between B and C.
