That’s really bad. I would much prefer to use a PC for planning and use an Ipad (Mini) in the plane.
Disagree Peter. The FF app works really well even for planning. Try it.
I am not going to buy an Ipad just to “try it”.
The demos are all done on the biggest Ipads one can get. Way too big for use in my plane.
You said you already have an iPad. Try it on that.

A new update was just released. You can now specify route constraints in form of include/exclude waypoints and excluding FIRs: https://www.foreflight.com/releases/12-1/
Again, new useful features for instrument pilots are only being added to the most expensive plan. FF seems to be pushing instrument users real hard towards the Performance Plan.
The 50% increased cost over the Pro Plus plan isn’t justified when Autorouter offers the same thing for free.
It appears that to get autorouting with fly-by waypoints is $300/year; is that correct?
That is even more than Rocketroute, I believe, and they have gone almost totally for the TP/jet market.
I have an Ipad2 – too old.
Yes, that‘s correct, and FF seem to also be going after that market. See post 121.
Yeah, but that market is tiny in Europe, and Rocketroute has been holding it for years. And the top end of it uses specialist flight support services.
The wide acceptance of FF in the US won’t help because almost nobody flies over to the US – it is too far.
It doesn’t matter to “us” all the time the Autorouter keeps going. But we have no backup for if/when it disappears. Let’s face it – it doesn’t have a business model.
Is the FF version without fly-by waypoints still around at the old $100?

Yes, but one needs the $200 Pro (not Performance) version if one wants geo-referenced charts on the map. That step is actually worth it for IFR IMOH. But most of the new features benefiting IFR pilots are going into the $300 version.
I was at a FF presentation on Saturday where they were describing all the nice new features but conveniently neglected to mention that most needed the Performance Plan. The audience was almost entirely SEP pilots who would quite possibly draw the line at $200.
IFR pickup and cancel waypoints are available already for the Basic Plus plan in ForeFlight. Select “Y” or “Z” as a flight rule and type your requested waypoints.
