A bit more politeness please

This belongs into the IT/Website section but few people go there…

We have seen an increase in what are basically personal attacks. There is no need to describe what this means because anybody old enough and smart enough to get a PPL knows exactly what it is.

A number of posts have contained phrases which would get you into a fight in a bar.

Please read the Guidelines and particularly the very obvious intent behind them which is to keep EuroGA a friendly site, and where good contributors keep contributing and don’t feel encouraged to leave.

Time to revisit this one…

Some examples of how things can be improved, with negligible effort

“huh, what are you talking about” → “I don’t understand what you are saying”

“you are wrong” → “I don’t agree”

“that’s nonsense” → “I don’t understand that at all”

“where do you get this stuff from” → “the origin of that would be interesting”

One thing which may be noticeable in the above is avoidance of “YOU” [usually followed by some words suggesting the target is less than very bright]. That alone reduces the perceived aggression by a huge amount.
