Funny random stuff

Do keep in mind that the image processing is likely done on the required “Windows Computer with OpenCV installed on it” so saying “Arduino FTW” is misleading, as the CV processing is the computationally intensive part. Quoting from the video description.

This machine requires the following things to work:
- 1x Teensy 4.0 Microcontroller
- 4x StepperOnline DM442S stepper motor drivers
- 4x Nema 17 Stepper Motors with 5:1 planetary gearbox
- 1x 48V 8A power supply
- 1x e-con Systems See3CAM_CU135 camera
- 1x Windows Computer with OpenCV installed on it
- All the parts defined the Fusion360 project
- Custom Windows Application (made with Unity)

Yes indeed, well spotted. The ARM can’t possibly do a 120fps camera unless the resolution is quite low. The one we are using at work has

which is unlikely to cut the mustard. The rest of it is possible, especially the stepper motor drives for which it is ideally suited.

I wonder if they are doing processing with a graphics card on the PC.

I suspect the Arduino is just one of the 8 bit AVRs. All it’s doing is providing a GPIO interface, something that doesn’t need much computing power. The PC is doing all the work.

@Jujupilote yes there is an old English saying that people rise up in organisations until they reach a position of incompetence.

Re the above job advert, it won’t be up for ever so I have put in a local copy. To me the most objectionable thing is the working hours of 8am to 6pm Anyway, that it’s a joke wasn’t obvious until I saw stuff like this

  • Presentable in Universal Web Design branded attire
  • 5 Year Milestone – Letter from the CEO
  • Birthday Cake And Prosecco
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience using the latest technologies
