Airprox while flying under a low cloudbase

CS-STAN also features replacement of existing lights with LED type lights and LED ACL lights for planes originally not equipped with them.

Yes; I did that long ago. No doubt it is legal, especially on N-reg. But the wigwag strobes is something people like to debate.

My examiner said no to Wig Wag lamps for certified planes.

I have my strobes and ACL turned on every flight. Installed all by myself. Works like a charm. And boy you sure see this.

The RV that I fly has wigwag strobes. From observing other aircraft with the same, they make a phenomenal difference to visibility. They are on for every flight – why wouldn’t you?

My line of thinking is that if not head on you are going to be seeing just one wingtip light, so wigwag won’t make any difference. But head-on it well might.

Transponders are the biggest common denominator by far… a pity that in the UK the CAA is encouraging them being turned off.

The certified Bristell B23 has LED landing lights halfway both wings and LED strobes on the wingtips. The landing lights can be switched on in wigwag mode and of course in continuous mode. Quite a X-mas tree.
