I got this ambiguous email from Honeywell:

Have they removed some data permanently? The first sentence suggests that.
But later sentences suggest that they will fix this in future database cycles.
Curiously, the KLN94 compactflash is 48MB but the data loaded into it is only about 2MB!
I’ve emailed them for an explanation.
I believe what they are trying to say is that with 1406, data is missing in an uncontrolled fashion. Starting with 1407, they will remove data in a controlled fashion.
The limit might not be the physical storage of the card but something in the software of the KLN. Given that the last person knowing the KLN died recently at the age of 99, the best they can do is strip data from the cards…

No – he went to work for Garmin
This is industry standard.
Garmin is doing the same thing with the GNS430 non-WAAS.
Some German pilots complained about missing direct to waypoints around EDDN. The funny thing is that ATC gives many directs to these waypoints.
