Legend Cub to use the Gemini diesel

Here

I hope it works out OK. Then this engine is a must-have. It doesn’t really matter what the real-life consumption is. The power is right (100 HP), the weight is right (80 kg) and it runs Jet A1.

As always, the mockup is missing the cooler — the most interesting part of the design. The exhaust as well. Seems they still have some way to go…

The cooler and exhaust will vary according to the aircraft. It is hardly very interesting. This is the non-turbo version, so no need for inter cooler also. But it is clearly not ready yet. I will give them a year, if they have not got something workable by then, it will never happen.

Wasn’t that Gemini a two-stroke engine? Without a turbo, it must be quite inefficient, and the exhaust fumes all but clean. I think a non-turbo two stroke is a very poor idea.

The 100hp engine is “supercharged” Gemini 100 , the 125hp engine “turbocharged” according to their website.

What about using this power plant?

BTW the Rotax 915 is discussed here.
