LESO - San Sebastián & LESB Son Bonet Mallorca == Any recent experiences

To know the costs,I mailed a message to San Sebastian ops and I received quickly the answer ([email protected]).

LFDU, Belgium

For many years, after about 2008 (the last time I landed there) LESO was no-go for extra schengen traffic, due to one type of policeman turning up for work while another type of policeman not turning up for work (I have a long email from a local describing the situation). Then there was a mandatory handling arrangement which got around this and which was fairly pricey – €200, IIRC. Then later I heard the cost came down.

It would be interesting to know the current cost for an extra schengen flight because San Sebastian is a really nice city.

I was there in September 2018.Mandatory to book a parking stand .The engine stop in the square, but if there is another airplane in the square ? So i stopped my engine before arriving on my stand. If you have to anchorage your airplane, take a long horn .Nothing other special, except that we where with the ground and we never changed the frequency and even after airborne we stayed with ground.Handling mandatory if you come from a non police airfield (for the schengen countries).

I was there last time a few months ago. Pulled the Arrow with some effort, as usual, employing just the right amount of time to be able to see the arrival of a Beech Baron with both engines on up to the parking slot!

A search for LESB etc digs out some recent threads. Also see the “Threads possibly related to this one” list below this thread.

Biarritz is closed until march 3rd or 4th
They are renovating the runway.

If that first stop is just a fuel stop, than I would use Biarritz instead (which is ok for a fuel stop). That will save you three digits in fuel cost alone.

Otherwise, San Sebastian is just a beautiful approach/airport. Was there in July. Nice Pinxos at the airport cafe, too.

I really don‘t know if handling is really necessary for you coming from the UK. It could be, since they will likely want to actively escort you to customs.

All the rest is unchanged. Still only 5 small GA parking spots which you need to reserve. But they reply very quickly. And still the famous engine start/shutdown square to/from which you have to pull the plane. But it‘s just a few meters.

I am planning to leave tomorrow for a trip to Palma via San Sebastián from Shoreham (EGKA)

I am going to pay up for the handeling at San Sebastián so that I can fly direct from EGKA it will work out approx 100euro including the landing and parking. The minimum handeling amount is 60euro.

I was just wondering if anyone has been to either place recently? And has any tips?
