Nav splitter question

Following Nav/com upgrade I now have 2 nav/coms(gtn650 and garmin 8.33 nav/com) fed from comant CI 505 (which splits antenna into nav 1&g/s and nav 2, the g/s output being no longer required)

I have noticed that the g/s on nav 1 is slow to come alive, unlike nav 2.
Swaping nav 1 and 2 connections on the splitter swaps the issue, so I presume that on the splitter nav 1 filters out g/s(for the g/s output) whereas nav 2 doesn’t.

So I think I need a new splitter, do I need a special one to include g/s, such as:

or would these be ok?

Thanks

From the Garmin install manual:

2.4.2.5 NAV Antenna Interface Accessories
Some aircraft may require the use of a splitter or diplexer for connection of the VOR/LOC and GS
antennas, or combination VOR/LOC/GS antennas. Refer to Figure E-18 to determine if a splitter or
diplexer is required for the installation.
 Garmin P/N 013-00112-00 (Mini-Circuits ZFSC-2-1B+)
 Comant Diplexer VOR/GS, Model CI-507

If you PM me an email address, I can send Figure E-18 GTN 6XX/7XX Antenna Interconnect

The required mini circuits splitter is available in the UK for about half the price of the units that you linked from aircraft spruce.

Search the minicircuits website for their Europe distributor, they are in Frimley and are very helpful as long as you provide them with the part number

The only rather bizarre part of the transaction is I had to sign a declaration that I would not use the part of a nuclear submarine or any other defence related equipment.

You need to make sure they also send you a Certificate of Compliance, you EASA145 company will need this to fit the item.

The cost saving is around 50% over acquiring the item from one of the large aviation parts companies.

OK, thank you.
I’m still unsure as to whether the spec. needs to specifically state that it will handle 300+ mhz g/s signal, as opposed to just splitting vor/loc freqs.
Can anyone clarify please?

If you have a combined VOR/LOC/GS antenna you only require the Mini-Circuit’s unit, if you have a separate GS antenna than you require to fit this between the two antennas and the Mini-Circuit unit

Search the web for the GTN650 install manual and the full details are found on pages E45-E47.

Ah,thank you!
