Champion vs. Tempest lead connection thread

Hi, I have a question. 🙂 I ordered new spark plugs for my IO-360-C, and size of thread for connect ignition lead is different. Thread to cylinder head is same, part number is same (well at least, old is Champion, new is Tempest – REM38E vs UREM38E). What I did wrong? 🙈 some recomended me URE40E, instead of 38, should I reorder spark plugs? I am afraid, that those 40E will have same smaller thread. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Thanks.

REM plugs have 5/8 inch diameter threads, if your new plugs have larger threads then they are RHM plugs with 3/4 inch diameter threads.

I wonder if the wrong plugs were delivered. Normally Tempest (I use them – URHM38S) are exactly the same threads as the Champions, obviously.

Old one is larger, new one is smaller. Can I order ignition harness with these connections? My magnetos are 10-79020-16

Are the new plus the correct P/N?
Are the old plugs the correct P/N? Maybe the wrong plugs were installed a long time ago.

An ignition harness is not that cheap. It is worth changing if the old one is in a bad condition, however.

Well, old harness is in terrible condition also, I am going to change it as assembly, or manufacture it myself (I am licensed B1+B2 mechanic, so I can), but I am little bit confused with spark plugs now. P/N is same, well, transition from Champion to Tempest – REM38E VS UREM38E, where second letter(E) means barrel style, and that U on Tempest plug P/N means, that this plug is made by Tempest :

part number means this:

1. Resistor
None – No Resistor
R – Mil-Spec. Resistor-Erosion protection

2. Barrel Style
None – Unshielded
E – Shielded 5/8"-24 Thread
H – Shielded 3/4"-20 Thread (All Weather Plug)
V – M18X1 – Metric

3. Mounting Thread – Reach – Hex Size
B – 18 mm – 13/16” (2.06 cm) – 7/8” (2.22 cm)
M – 18 mm – 1/2” (1.27 cm) – 7/8” (2.22 cm)
J – 14 mm – 3/8” (.095 cm) – 13/16” (2.06 cm)
L – 14 mm – 1/2” (1.27 cm) – 13/16” (2.06 cm)
U – 18 mm – 1-1/8” (2.85 cm) – 7/8” (2.22 cm)
N – 14 mm – 3/4” (1.90 cm) – 13/16” (2.06 cm)

4. Heat Rating Position
Low number – Cold (26)
High number – Hot (50)

5. Electrode Design
None – Conventional Single
E – Two Electrode Massive
N – Four Electrode Massive
S – Single Electrode (Iridium)
B – Twin Electrodes(Nickel)
R – Push-wire – 90° to Center
Y – Projected Core Nose
P – Two Electrode (Platinum)
W – Two Electrode (Iridium)

Oh I see it now, I ordered by AIPC, but there was some modification done, old plug was RHM, new is REM, so there is the fault. I have to order URHM38E.
Thank you and sorry for my mistake.
Next time I will order with reference of old P/N. :)

Is someone interested in my new plugs, if shop will not change them? I will let them go with discount, they are new, never run. It is TEMPEST UREM40E
