Think yourself lucky. The one downside of my 695 is that a replacement battery costs £225. Mine failed to hold a charge when it was about 18 months old and Garmin UK very kindly replaced it without any fuss.
If it failed outside of the warranty period, I would have seriously considered cracking it open with a view to replacing the cells.
