We’ve ordered a GI-275 HSI and engine monitor through our local avionics shop (ordered ~1 month ago), and they have yet to give us any indication of a lead time. Is anyone else experiencing the same? I’m a bit concerned by the lack of information, as the other shops we contacted were able to give a quoted installation time within two months.
Base units for EIS are currently 2 week lead-time. ADAHRS units for HSI or attitude functions are currently 16 weeks.
Most Garmin avionics have a lead time IRO 16 weeks, we have a very large order for GARMIN kit and these units are expected to trickle to us over the next year or so.
Ok thanks!
Garmin are prob99 affected by the chip shortage.
Based on what I see at work this is beginning to ease now, but the industry is making so much money from the inflated pricing (e.g. ST revenues are up 20%) that they will maintain the situation until the last moment.
Lead times are crazy right now. Had a friend trying to buy a new Cessna 182 and was told there are some production slots available in 2024 … Got a quote last month on 40 month lead time for a Lycoming cylinder … Crankshaft order was confirmed with expected delivery date November 2024 … you name it …
