ELT triggered while taxiing… not even on radio transmit… ?

Hi,
my ACK-04 ELT went off last Monday while taxiing… it was not after landing so it didn’t trigger because any hard landing (in fact the landing 2 hours before was very smooth).
I’ve read in other threads that radio interference can cause it to activate… so some people shield them. But I was operating in the tower frecuency I had used previously in the clearance (and when landing hours before).
Any suggestions? Just send it for a check?

(The battery will expire soon but I don’t think it has to do with it… could it?)

BTW, I was recording the flight for a video about this my first flight to LEVD… so I ended up with a video about the ELT activation. I also think I didn’t react properly… in fact at first I thought it was not my beacon but some other plane in the apron. SAR started first phase calling the contact numbers… luckily I reverted back in time to avoid any further actions.

Thanks for sharing! That must have been quite startling. You handled it really well.

I don’t see how this could happen – isn’t there a mechanical switch?

There is an issue with ELTs and VHF though.
