Help me chose Teflon Hoses: Textron vs Stratoflex ?

Hi,

The Maintenance Manual of my C182 requires replacement of “Engine compartment flexible fluid-carrying TEFLON hoses” every 10 years.
Those teflon hoses in the engine compartment are for oil and fuel.
You can identify 4 hoses with following part numbers:

AE3663161H0184
AE3663161G0140
AE3663161H0110
AE3663163E0320

Textron used to offer a kit with all the hoses at good price ($800). It’s now gone, and you have to order them individually for around $1500 excluding freight.

Discussing with my mechanics, he suggested I inquire WMT, as they offer Stratoflex equivalents (delivered with form 1, and original Textron PN notified on the form1). Price is slightly better at 1200€ inc. freight.

I checked with my inspector, and he told me I could use those stratoflex hoses.

My question is relative to quality standard. Do they match ? What would you choose ?
I’m not sure Textron builds their own hoses, and I wonder if they are Aeroquip actually. I will check on their identification collar when I can.

Thank you for your input !

I don’t know if these guys can produce hoses for certified aircraft, but would worth a look. They have a good reputation.

Also, I’d make sure that whatever hoses you install, they are conductive, teflon, and have integrated firesleeve.

If Tom there can’t make the hoses for you, he can certainly give you some tips about the best place to get them. Might be a bit busy due to Airventure.

Aircraft speciality was offered by Aircraft Spruce.
Though they can’t produce any certificate except COC, making them impossible to install on an EASA certified aircraft.

I will drop them an email anyway to have their opinion and let you know.

Thank you.

I would not bother with hoses without Form One/8130-3. It is risky in EASA-land. Your current CAMO may be OK but the next one not.

I meant, dropping an email to know their opinion on quality.
Without certificate, I would not consider installation.

From latest informations, AEROQUIP is a provider for TEXTRON.
Il may explain why Part numbers begin with AE.

It is possible to buy them directly from EATON with CAA Form1.
I asked my inspector to confirm if CAA certificates is a valid option for a F reg aircraft.

This thread may help also. Various other threads on getting Socata hoses made; they cost ~3k at the engine OH time, unless you are smart smiley but there is zero incentive in the industry to do that because 25% trade discount on say 3k is a lot more than 25% on say €500.

The issue was always that Socata hoses were ISO (metric) threads and the company which “owned” the fittings was tight with them. But eventually Parker started to make them, via any Parker dealer.

I have a whole kit of non-lifed Teflon Socata hoses, used for a few hundred hours, sitting in a bag…

Thank you Peter.

Saywells is actually the closest reseller I found for Eaton / AEROQUIP hoses, and they are competitive.

Saywells are a dealer for IIRC Parker and can do ISO hoses and all kinds especially if you lend them one to look at. They are far cheaper than anything “OEM”.

If you have any trouble with shipping, I can collect it (live down the road) or get it sent to my office, and I will send it by DHL smiley

…Except that the Stratoflex brand is now owned by Danfoss.

I got mine, for a Piper Cherokee, from Precision Hose Technology
They have a lot of different kits available and they come with EASA Form 1 or FAA 8130-3 if needed.
