Maintenance Shop with C210 Landing Gear Experience in EU or UK

Hi All,

Could anyone recommend a reputable shop in Europe or the UK with experience on C210 retractable landing gear and who can perform FAA Annuals? I am new to this forum and have recently relocated my N-reg C210 to the Geneva area.

Thanks,
Mark

Hi Mark!

Glad to see more 210 users around.

@spirit49 can help you in Austria, @GA_Pete in the UK, @C210_Flyer in Hungary and there is a good shop in France too.

Send me a PM and I can provide more details .

Do you have specific landing gear problems or are you simply trying to avoid falling into an unknowledgeable-shop trap?

Hi Mark

I’m in LOIH just at the border to Switzerland.

Let me know if you need any support.

I’m N-reg as well

In the UK, my current maintenance organisation have looked after my 210 since it arrived at the field over 15 years ago. They have a reputation for a sensible approach to stuff.
I hear there’s also a maintenance organisation at Biggin Hill that have worked on 210’s but would be significantly dearer.

It is hard to get retractable gear serviced properly. When I used a company for my TB20 (now I do it myself with an A&P/IA) they could not do the gear (well, WD40 smiley) so I used to fly to another one. Ridiculous, obviously…

Best way to maintain any nontrivial plane is to find a freelance mechanic familiar with the type and rent a hangar where maint work is permitted.

I have nothing much to add, but owning the epitome of nontrivial maintenance planes 1) this is probably the best advice for anyone, either find a shop where someone knows your plane inside out, or have someone come over. In my opinion, having a lot of knowledge yourself helps, too, but it’s a slow process, at least for me.

1) mean people say you need a two meter long arm with three elbows, a freely rotating wrist and child sized fingers to service the engine – mean, but not uncalled for.

We do the annuals in my hangar in LOIH. A&P IA travels in.
Have jacks and enough spare parts to build another 210.

We try to time the annuals for end March/beginning April.
