Anybody has the Insight G4 engine monitor?

That looks nice but… if you are actually using it to replace both the tacho and the EGT/CHT instrument, then you have a single point of failure for two fairly important instruments

Although the CGR-30P is certified as a primary replacement for the tach & MP etc. I do not plan to remove the original indicators…

Need to be careful how you feed the single sensor (if that’s what you use) into two instruments.

It is a super monitor! I really like it ..

Peter, I am not sure I understand your remark about the oiltemp? For sure it has got it. Maybe not presented in the way you want?

(in the pic my egt probe on cyl 3 is having a problem)

I just based it on what they told me:

Q: On the EDM, the 7th bar is the oil temp. Can this be done on yours?

A: this is currently not available, I will mention it to our software guys
and engineer, we are not allowed being primary on that screen to currently
change anything

He could have told me they do have oil temp but not as a bar

BTW can the OAT show in degC while the other temps show in degF?

Presently oat is only f.
They develop continuously.

I expect they will display cengu

Oil as a 7th bar I think Will be far away..

You should call them and talk to Zoltan. He is the guy!!

While talking about engine monitors, does anyone know what’s new features or bug fixes are in the EDM730/830 software update v3.43? I wish JPI would tell. When asking via email, they do not respond.

United States

The download page only lists EDM 830 firmware 3.35?

I had a chance to hold a G4 today. I am sorry to say I am extremely unimpressed at the dirt cheap connectors they use on the back, to connect to the various sensors

These have been known for decades to be a big cause of avionics issues.

The probes look OK but they more some more dirt cheap and nasty plastic connectors on the other sensors e.g. oil pressure.

For the money they charge, they are taking the p1ss.

I was going to say the same. OTOH my autopilot uses the same, and they worked reliably for 40 years (but needed a cleaning two years ago).

The contacts should last OK in a dry atmosphere, but the total lack of a strain relief on the wires leading into the connector would be a bigger concern.
