Upgrading of VFR-only-maintained aircraft to IFR

In France the avionic needs to be tested every two years in order to fly IFR (the avionics stays onboard during the test).
Pitot-static / transponder check is mandatory every two years regardless of flight rules.

@Mooney_driver:

More:
GMA340 audio
KN64 dme
ADF 650a
Autocontrol IIIb

Rest is stock 1978 Arrow with vacuum AI, DG, …

The rrcent changes involve installation of the 430, GTC and GMA and those come with “IFR paperwork”
Jepp subscription for the 430W will be catered for

Didn’t they carry out the full test at time?

You might want to check the technical file / administration for this aircraft. It would be very well possible, if this installation is less then 2 years old that it is currently IFR.

@jesse: will do tomorrow
So i guess I could judge thzt by comparing latest test dates against the guidelines in that guidance document?

Jesse,

is the KN64 allowed for IFR in France? It sure as hell is not here, I had to change mine for a 62A

LSZH(work) LSZF (GA base), Switzerland

Technically, DME is not required to fly IFR for a F-reg, but it’s highly restrictive. See this .
The KN64 is not TSO’d, so I don’t think you can use it as a DME.

My mistake: it has a KN62A indeed
