About minor & major alterations, field approvals, 337s, etc. (FAA)

Again, a good (yet as always: long and slow) presentation from Mike Busch, that helps to clear some common confusion about the topic, I guess.

Mainz (EDFZ) & Egelsbach (EDFE), Germany

This presentation was referred to here as coming-up. That thread was however mostly inconclusive.

It is really good.

That Job Aid (around 19:00) is a great document too.

This procedure, the lack of understanding of the details within the maintenance industry, and the general unwillingness of mechanics to make interpretations, is why getting FAA Major Alterations done in Europe is such a difficult problem these days. OTOH if you have a goo A&P/IA working with you, you have a much better situation than you would have under EASA where regulatory understanding is no better and most things get complicated quickly.

Just watched it again. That video should be mandatory viewing for any N-reg owner

It should also be mandatory viewing for any EASA-reg owner but they would probably get a bit frustrated
