Any handheld GPS which complies with BRNAV equipment requirement

In relation to handheld GPS I have a question:
A friend of mine has a nice Piper Arrow I can rent. It is IFR capable except it doesn’t yet have a BRNAV GPS. This limits routing etc.
But he has a portable Garmin Aera 795 with a yoke mount. The question is will that be legal to use for BRNAV naviation between waypoints?

AFAIK any equipment used as primary means of navigation needs to be installed and certified. So the answer is no.

Had the same thought but was not sure if that was still the case. Thanks.

If it has a KNS80 then that also satisfies BRNAV I believe….of course the Aera 795 is just there for situational awareness…
