Where to get stick-on black wing walk material

I can see the “3M Safety-Walk Heavy Duty Tread, Black, 4-Inch by 60-Foot” on Amazon but the widest I can find listed anywhere is 4 inches. I think the TB20 needs at least 20" width.

If you don’t get it from the Military, this works fine: https://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/cspages/pti-wingwalk.php?clickkey=89158

Hmmm… no source for a wide material as yet. TB owners also seem to use the paint-on stuff.

Could it be that the Socata stuff was actually painted on? It definitely looks like a “sheet” material…

MIne appear to be painted on as well. (and I will probably repaint some time soon)
Just a thick paint that tends to look like a stick on material.

I would recommend to make the new wingwalk using epoxy resin and quartz sand or “sharp sand” as you call it in building trade. You peel off the original wingwalk, make sure that the area is treated well (no bare metal, no corrosion otherwise you need to remedy this first (clean, alodine, primer, top) and than you mask the area, brush apply the epoxy resin and cover with a layer of quartz sand. Let it cure overnight and vacuum the loose quartz sand. Last step is to paint over using any black semi gloss exterior paint (I use semi gloss nitrocellulose paint, which is probably hard to get in some countries but the paint type really does not matter here as far as it is for outside use). The good thing is that this type of wingwalk is really durable and if the paint start wearing off after few years, you just repaint it and the wingwalk is as new again. See the pictures bellow illustrating the process, which is more than thousand words. Hope it helps.

By how much does this decrease airspeed? You really only need a few thin strips.

I did mine a few months ago with http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/cspages/randolphwingwalk.php. You need toluene and I’m sure that the whole mix is pretty toxic (a good mask and good gloves are a must..). The result is pretty good as far as I can tell ..
