Adding an Aux Audio 'in' to a pair of DC H10-13x

Anybody know if it's possible / how to add an Aux Audio 'input' to a pair of DC H10-13x headsets (ENC or ANR).

Several current sets have a 3.5mm female jack sockets to feed in iPods etc.

I want to feed in the 'audio out' from a Garmin GPS. I suspect it's not as simple as using a 'Y' splitter.

The audio out from the Garmin only wants to go to the P1 headset and it doesn't want to go out on the airways when the PTT is activated.

I'm handy with a soldering iron and making up a 'black box' if I know the circuit etc.

At the moment I'm using a 'pod' ear piece 'stuffed' up inside one of the DC's ear cups - works but messy.

Any specialist companies that do this sort of work.

My DC's are fine (if arguable, these days, not the best) so I don't wont to pension them off just for a nicety.

No advice available??

I don't know if this is possible, because a non-ANR headset has the speakers wired directly to the headphone jack, and thus presents a low impedance at the jack.

Whereas a normal 3.5mm "line" output doesn't output much power.

The Garmin 496 which I installed a few years ago may be an exception, as its audio output appears to have more power (also it's a balanced output, for driving a speaker directly, without needing an airframe ground return) but I was unable to get any info on the audio output out of Garmin, who were completely useless.

Thanks Peter. I 'lashed' out at Sywell on a Garmin aera 795. It was a bit irresistible what with 'show discount' plus a further for attending a Garmin Seminar I got 39% off.

This (link below - still not got the technique of making 'THIS' hot!!) would seem to have all the right 'physical' connections, but I'm not sure about the technicalities - impedance / balance etc. etc.

Sure don't want to damage my new 'toy'!!!

May do a DIY job and mount a suitable 'mini speaker' inside one of the DC cups with a suitable 3.5mm socket.

I'll have a go at Garmin as well, but know what you mean - the tech. people who really know seem to sit behind a glass wall in these big corporations.

My DC H10-13x ARE ANR or what DC call ENC (electronic noise canceling)
