The bad wx is finally clearing up for south east UK and near France…
I think we may try Le Touquet tomorrow but VFR only
I would be up for that. Wx looks better tomorrow. LFQQ TAF is good.
Today is quite cloudy; I’ve just been up to drill some holes.
If my co-pilot agrees with my choice we will probably arrive around 12:15 local, PH-BEC, but I won’t know until around 9:30 CET tomorrow
I am filing for 0830 UTC EOBT.
filed for LFAT, ETA 1000 UTC, +31613900642
A brilliant outing and great to meet Peter and his friend Peter
However the TAFs did not really pan out at the very end and we got back into Shoreham just in time. I reckon the cloudbase went from 2000ft to about 900ft in the time it took to fly 40 miles. I got visual at 900ft on the RNAV 20 approach, and with the newer TAF of OVC004 coming and wind of ~220/17 the 02 option would not have worked either.
Leaving the UK
The cloud had built up a bit over LFAT so I changed the earlier visual approach request to the RNAV 13
Got a hold at OKREK (the ILS and DME are notamed INOP; not sure whether for ever)
and the pattern was just before reaching these
Popping out of the bottom
Not many people swimming
After departure, flying at 2200ft between layers on the way to the RNAV 20 at EGKA
An IMCR or IR is just wonderful for getting the job done. One could have done it VFR too but it was getting a bit close back home…
It was a great day out – 3 Peters at one table. Uneventful flying with solid VFR both ways.
