Repository for CAD files?

With the cost of machines capable of printing “engineering grade” reinforced plastics now well below £2k, is there already an aviation-specific “thingiverse.com” type of repository for 3D CAD parts of common (and not-so-common use)?

If not, is anyone here interested in creating such a database?

I’ve got some files for AA5-parts I would be happy to share :)

@ErlendV I am extremely interested.

@Ultranomad, here’s some boarding step plugs:

Not useful, but could inprove ramp appeal slightly (if ever possible to improve it).

There’s a facebook group as well.

Caveat emptor, I find some projects alarming, but there are some very nice things there too.

This is a great idea.

I hae seen such databases but can’t remember where.

They could also be used for drawings for CNC parts e.g. like this.

Indeed. I think that parts to replace that gas strut bracket could be made for practically nothing by FFF/FDM “3d printing” with PA-CF filament.

I would either print such a part on its side or modify it to reinforce the z-axis.

That bracket needs to be way stronger than can be done by printing+sintering, IMHO, but fortunately the chinese are cheap for CNC machining, and that is a good option for DIY parts of all sorts. Especially if you make a small batch and flog them off. Whoops, no EASA-1 form, hmmm, I never said anything
