Blackshape

Nice..

In a few years, when better batteries are around, I’ll be the first to buy the electric version if they would market it. Or should I just build the electric version myself as an experimental?

Wow, very nice aircraft and the web site doesn’t say “reserve your position today with a fully refundable deposit” so that’s another plus and a clear sign it’s not a US company

Is it? There is barely any information on the homepage, so from visiting the web page, I could not decide.

But it’s a tandem seated aircraft anyway. That’s a deal breaker for a touring aircraft in my view.

I like the speed quoted in km/h. That is such an obvious con trick. Probably TAS at its specified ceiling of FL120, which itself is no good for a lot of flying into the more southern bits of Europe.

It does look very nice though.

The 148kt performance looks about right for the design so no free lunch in physics has been discovered.

It looks for the image that he pilots head is situated at a position about half way back on the chord of the wing.

That’s a horrible place to position the pilot. Most low wing aircraft position the pilot’s head just forward of the leading edge so that they have a good view downwards.

In this case it would seem like the pilot has no view downwards. A terrible position to be in.

@dublinpilot: then take a look at the VL3

or the Zenith Zodiac

or a zillion comparable designs… Actually I cannot imagine a single low-winger smaller than a PA32 that does have the pilot’s head forward of the leading edge. Which does confirm my dislike of low wingers, for this reason and for others.

And when I must grant you that this here Blackshapeprime has the pilot’s head rather at the trailing edge, that is no different from the Esqual VM1:

Why do you want to look straight down, dublinpilot?

Peter: Displaying the speed in kph isn’t that dramatic, as long as they indicate the unit :-)

… hmm, interesting. Advertised in the “ultralight” category yet an MTOW of 600 kg…
Seeing the equipment list, I am not surprised there is no indication of the empty weight.
And a demonstrator from CZ but registered in Slovakia?
Smelly, I am afraid.

That for-sale one is €158000. You could buy a mint condition TB20GT with TKS for that. That is an unbelievable price to be asking. Can anybody explain to me how it can be justified? Can this plane be flown without a Class 2 medical, for example? That would have a lot of value to some people.
