My wife is American, I don’t file the GAR from the Isle of Man to UK any differently if we’re flying somewhere together versus if I’m going there solo. No one in authority has ever complained (or even turned up to look at her passport).
The Isle of Man is a bit different to the Channel Islands (customs is NOT required for IOM-UK flights) in respect to customs because the IOM is in a common customs area with the UK, unlike the Channel Islands.
Yes, true I forgot CIs are not in the CU (got it cheap fuel at the pump ;) ) so a mandatory “customs notification” makes more sense
